King Solomon And The Queen Of Sheba

Blu Greenberg is most known as a modern Orthodox author of feminist writings. Here she changes format and works with Linda Tarry, a black Christian woman, to take new material they apparently discovered from the Ethiopian Jews who immigrated to Israel to weave a different story. Princess Makeda of the land of Sheba became queen when her father died. On the other side of the world, "100 days by camel and boat, there lived a king by the name of Solomon." Each heard of the other and soon they were to meet. They tested each other with riddles and, in this version she married the king but returns to Sheba where she had a son. The book concludes with an update on the Ethiopian Jews who claim descendancy from their child. This book combines well known legends with exquisite art work and a beautiful portrait of the woman, Queen of Sheba, good for children 6 to 9.
