Noah's Ark

Moses In The Bulrushes

Children's Bookshelf

These books are labeled "Read Along With Me." Written in a combination of large, clear print and rebus style - in which some of the words are replaced by pictures - they will appeal to the very young reader or the child who reads with difficulty. The preschool child can also "read" along with the parent, by following the pictures in the text. The books retell the best known biblical stories, which aids the less experienced reader to learn to read with greater confidence.

At the front of each book is a page of pictures which presents some of the words that have been replaced in the text by icons. Each book has twelve icons, and the renderings are clear as well as attractive. In addition to these icons, there are large, colorful illustrations throughout each book. The pages alternate in style, so that one page has 40 or 50 words and five to ten icons, while the page facing it has one large illustration and far fewer words. This approach makes reading more accessible to young children and encourages them to become independent readers.
