Tali’s Jerusalem Scrapbook

by Sylvia Rouss
Illustrated by Nancy Oppenheimer

This moving story describes the current situation in Israel as seen through a child’s eyes. Every year Tali’s relatives from the States come to celebrate her birthday party in Jerusalem. But this year no one is coming. Why? Tali shows us her scrapbook of pictures which contrast the happy times of only a few years ago with the sad times of today. Yet, through it all, Tali is certain that life in Jerusalem can once again be wonderful and full of joy.

Sylvia Rouss is the author of a dozen children's titles and won the “2002 National Jewish Book Award” for The Littlest Pair, about a pair of termites trying to get onto Noah’s wooden Ark. Her other bestselling titles in this series include The Littlest Candlesticks and The Littlest Frog. Sylvia lives with her family in Tarzanna, California.

Nancy Oppenheimer has worked as an illustrator for newspapers and magazines, and for such diverse companies as Xerox Education Publications and Pretty Paper Cards. She also illustrated Polly Pocket Goes To The Ballet for Scholastic Books. Nancy currently teaches art at the Blue Ridge Arts Center in South Carolina, and lives in Seneca, SC with her husband, two yellow labs and a very clever chipmunk.

Tali's Jerusalem Scrapbook has been awarded The 2003 Sydney Taylor Award.
