The re-sealable package allows for easy storage of the books and tray. In the 1980s, Ellen G. K. Rubin began to collect pop-up and movable books, appreciating their dynamic power to teach. At this time, she has almost 5000 books and ephemera. A charter member of the Movable Book Society, Ellen is a regular contributor to its newsletter, Movable Stationery. In September 2000, Ms. Rubin co-curated the exhibit, Brooklyn Pops Up! The History and Art of the Movable Book at the Brooklyn Public Library (New York). She is credited for the concept of the exhibit's catalog and trade book, Brooklyn Pops Up (Simon & Schuster ISBN 0689840195), with cover art by Maurice Sendak. Ms. Rubin, a recognized expert on movable books, appeared on the Martha Stewart Show (February & October, 2001) discussing the history of pop-ups and demonstrating their artistic qualities.
