Eli Jacobs is a columnist for The Jerusalem Post, writing a weekly detective and mystery book review column called Thrill Of Thrills. He has also published some of the basic texts for teaching English as a second language in Israel.

Eli had his first story published when he was just four years old, in Jack and Jill magazine, and has been writing for magazines and newspapers ever since.

Eli married and moved from his native Staten Island to Israel in 1986 and began teaching English in both religious and non-religious schools. It was partly his concern about the polarity in Israeli society, which worsened after the assassination of Prime Minister Rabin that led him to write Brothers Divided.

One afternoon, as Eli was across the street from the prime minister's office, working on his manuscript, the prime minister's convoy rode by. "Great," he though, "Now I find out that the PM rides a silver Cadillac and not a blue Buick as I just wrote in my last draft for the story." At that moment, a jeep with Shabak agents - the Israeli FBI - stopped and asked Eli what he was scribbling in his note pad. Before he could answer, they arrested him and detained him on suspicion of espionage.

Later, when giving interviews for TV, newspapers and radio stations around the world, Eli said, "The Shabak did a great job. It's just a shame that it took them three hours, and not three minutes, to realize that I'm an innocent writer and not a spy."

Eli is already hard at work at his sequel to Brothers Divided.
